Who is Lesley Trivett?
Mom to twin boys (and a twin herself!), digital content marketer, gardener, cross country skier, outdoor enthusiast, and baker of a gorgeous sourdough (you heard me, get those orders placed). Lesley wears many hats.
Originally from Vancouver, Lesley spent years as a weekend warrior commuting to Whistler for Nordic skiing, hiking, and cycling with her family – until permanently relocating to their dream town four years ago.
How did Lesley find her way to Nordic skiing?
Surprisingly, Lesley did not grow up in a ski family and learned to ski at Cypress as an adult. In her words, she “tried (and failed) to keep up to my husband Jay, who raced XC in university.” Of course she eventually caught on to the sport and once the twins came along, Nordic skiing quickly became a family affair.
When the pandemic rolled in, the family decided to give Biathlon a shot (pun intended) with Sea to Sky Nordics, branching out from their roots as members of Whistler Nordics (shoutout to our sister club!). The sport and community quickly hooked them in, and the rest, as they say, is history.
We caught up with Lesley and got her insights on XC, Biathlon, and more.
Why Nordic skiing?
I love being out in nature and I like to get away from the crowds. I enjoy pushing myself and clearing my head – XC helps me do that in the winter.
What’s your favourite thing about Biathlon ?
The people. There’s a really amazing group of people who share a passion for biathlon and XC. The community is very involved and dedicated. Biathlon is also a very dynamic sport that teaches athletes patience, self-regulation, responsibility, and discipline.
What is the most important lesson for a Biathlete?
Watching my kids develop as biathletes, I’d say the most important lesson is to stay in the moment. It’s a very Zen sport. When you’re skiing, ski. When you’re on the range, focus on each and every shot. If you miss, let it go, and focus on the next one. Then when you’re done with your 5 shots, get out there and ski! Don’t beat yourself up about what you just did on the range. Focus on your own process, your own goals, and your own personal performance.

What’s the highlight of working with Sea to Sky?
I love the people. I love building the community. I love the outdoors.

“I have to say that what Lesley has brought to the table with her first year as biathlon board member has been refreshing. Her enthusiasm, energy and ability to keep me on task is infectious. Lesley has already made terrific changes,” shares Biathlon Head Coach Sarah McCaw.
“Lesley is one of the most genuine, enthusiastic and supportive people I’ve had the pleasure of working with,” says Kate Francis, Sea to Sky Nordics Administrator. “She gives 110% to everything she does and is quick to lend a helping hand wherever possible. As a Board member, she easily identifies areas of improvement to spearhead within the organization and always does so with a big smile. Working with her feels like hanging out with a good friend.”
