The Young Vikings program is designed for 9-14-year old participants. The program combines cross-country skiing, ski play and snow bump jumping with Biathlon activities. This is an afternoon program that allows participants to participate in a Jackrabbit or Track Attack cross-country program in the morning (link to X-C programs) and the Young Vikings program in the afternoon for a full day of fun.
There will be opportunities to participate in fun events such as Nordic cross relays as well biathlon and multi-sport events that focus on skill acquisition and teamwork.
The Young Vikings program is for participants in the FUNdamentals and Learn to Train stages of the Canadian Sport for Life – Long Term Athlete Development Model.
Parent involvement is appreciated. This could involve helping with equipment and activity set-up, assisting with coaching/supervision and helping with fun events.

In order to register in the Nordic Hoppers program, you must meet the following prerequisites:
– membership with the Sea to Sky Nordics
– Membership with Biathlon BC
– at least one season of cross-country skiing experience
– no jumping or biathlon experience is required
This is single level program that is individualized to meet the specific needs of the various ages and skill levels of participants. We will endeavor to provide a level of challenge that matches the interests and abilities of each participant.
2019-2020 Winter Schedule and Dates
This winter, the Young Vikings program offers training sessions on Sunday afternoons.
Dates: Dec 7-Mar 7 – 12 sessions – no practice on Dec 22 or 28
Location: Whistler Olympic Park
Activities: Cross-country skate skiing, ski play/snow bump jumping and Biathlon.
Program fees cover coaching, rifles, lane fees and the use of hybrid skis and mini skis used in some of our ski play/snow bump activities.
Trail passes are not included in the program fee.
$52.50 discount season passes to Whistler Olympic Park can be purchased in connection with program registration.
Registration Fee: $250.00
Participants are required to provide their own cross-country ski equipment (skis, boots, poles), for skate skiing.
Equipment rentals are available through Whistler Olympic Park and local ski shops.
Participants should come to practice prepared for the weather conditions with multiple sets of pants, jackets, gloves, and hats. At least 3 pairs of gloves and 3 jackets are recommended in wet weather!
