2018/2019 Program Registration
Winter Biathlon Program registration is now open : https://zone4.ca/reg.asp?id=18953
Our Teen Leadership program is for youth ages 14-18 (born in 2000-2004).
This program is designed for teenagers who are not interested in a competitive training program, but who want to continue doing biathlon and to develop coaching and officiating skills for a lifetime involvement in sport.
Teen Leaders will take part in skiing and shooting activities, while assisting the club coaches with sessions for the Biathlon Bears and Junior Racers programs. Teen Leaders will also help officiate at the biathlon events hosted in Whistler.
The goal of the program is to continue to engage teenagers to be active through the sport of biathlon, while encouraging them to develop coaching and officiating skills by assisting club coaches and officials. This program can be used for volunteer hours required for school programs and certification options for coaching and officiating are available through the program as well.
In order to register in our Teen Leadership program, you must meet the following prerequisites:
– at least one season of nordic ski experience
– 2018/2019 membership with the Sea to Sky Nordics (memberships can be purchased starting in September)
– be registered with Biathlon Canada as a “Recreational Athlete”
– previous participation in a biathlon program or camp or equivalent experience
Athletes are required to provide their own ski equipment (skis, boots, poles). Athletes will need equipment for both skate and classic skiing. Equipment rentals are available through Whistler Olympic Park, Cypress, and local ski shops.
Biathlon rifles, ammunition, and roller skis will be provided by the club.
