Cars will become ad hoc change and warming areas. We will expand the parking lot at the jumps so everyone can park close to the action. We will also provide tents for protection from the elements. HOPPERS PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Hoppers program is designed for 8-16-year old participants who want to experience the exhilaration of flight on skis while learning about the sport in a safe and controlled manner.
The jumping program employs an individualized skill development progression to bring participants from introduction to competent jumping on our 10-meter snow bump, 20m and 40m jumps. There is no pressure to jump on larger hills until the participant feels ready to move up. Younger participants may remain on the 10- and 20-meter jumps for an entire season.
The Hoppers program is for participants in the FUNdamentals and Learn to Train stages of the Canadian Sport for Life – Long Term Athlete Development Model.
Parent Involvement
Parent involvement is appreciated. This could involve helping with equipment set-up, hill preparation, driving snowmobiles for uphill transportation or assisting with coaching support (training provided).
Parents who are interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact John Heilig through info@seatoskynordics.ca to let us know of your interest and availability.
Registration Prerequisites
To register in the Hoppers program, you must meet the following prerequisites:
– membership with the Sea to Sky Nordics (Click Here) or Whistler Nordics
– at least one year of experience cross-country or downhill skiing
– no jumping experience is required
Program Levels
The nature of ski jump training allows for a broad range of ages and skill levels to train together. Each participant chooses the hill that they feel most comfortable on and the coaches develop an individualized program to meet their specific needs.
